Down by the Lake

Who doesn't love summer?  Always a great time to be on a boat or beach and soaking up the sun, while reading a great book.  My favorite way to enjoy a sunny day!

When I saw the colors for this week's color throw-down...my first thought was these colors are so beachy.  Time to pull out an old set from Stampin' Up, that I still love to this day, called "Summer by the Sea"!  It is also a perfect set to water color, which is exactly what I did.

The colors for this week's CTD were Soft Sky, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate and Calypso Coral.

I used Tim Holtz's water color paper and inked up the stamp in "Tuxedo Black" ink and quickly heat embossed with clear embossing powder to set the black ink.  I then brought out my water pen and colored the boat in SU's "Smoky Slate", her pants and hat in "Crumb Cake", her shirt and hat band in "Calypso Coral" and "Soft Sky" ink for the water and sky, which is hard to see.  I used "Calypso Coral", "Soft Sky", which I dry embossed with QuicKutz "Polka Dots" , "Smoky Slate", which I dry embossed with SU's "Decorative Dots" and Crumb Cake" card stock.  I finished the card off with orange ribbon and inked up Happy Birthday in "Calypso Coral" from PTI's "Wet Paint" set.

These colors look great together!

Thank you for stopping by and don't forget to check out the other great cards at Color Throwdown.
