MIM's #219 - Kissing Technique

Hi again,
Wow, I had time for two posts this week.  I had one more birthday card to make.  This card is for my future daughter-in-law's mother.  Sharon is such a sweet lady and it's been fun getting to know her over the past year, as we help Nick and Danielle prepare for their wedding (only 16 more days!).

I haven't had a chance to participate in a MIM challenge for awhile and Lizzie Jones showed us the "Kissing Technique" this week.  I haven't done this technique in a long time, so I thought I would on Sharon's card.  I really love how this card turned out.  It wasn't how I envisioned it in my head, though.  Lizzie suggested using a large solid images, and the PTI's Beautiful Butterflies set popped right into my head.  I also used the Ombre Builders set, too.  I loved Lizzie's card, so I CASED her card with a few minor changes.

I don't have a lot of PTI's ink colors.  I tried to use the ones I do have, but they were too juicy and didn't work well.  I ended up using SU's Certain Celery and Lavender Lace inks.  I loved how the circles came out on the Lavender Lace butterflies, but you can't see the triangles very well on the Certain Celery butterflies.

I finished off my card by die cutting Birthday from PTI's Swoosh die cutting set, and stamping birthday, from PTI's Swoosh stamp set, in white and heat embossing it in white, too, on an angle and placing the card back together again on a piece of Certain Celery card stock.  I added a few purple flower sequins from Simon Says Stamps to finish off the card. I am also entering this card into the Simon Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes, too.

Happy Birthday, Sharon.  I'm looking forward to giving you your birthday hug in a few weeks and sharing a few happy tears as we watch our children start a new chapter of their lives together!

I'm getting so excited for August 15!
