Hi everyone,
I have a few cards I've made over the last week to share. We celebrated my mom's 77th birthday and my brother-in-law's birthday this past Sunday at my sister, Kathy's new home, just off the river. We had a great, hot day to celebrate on the water. It was beautiful way to spend the day!
I recently watched a video, on Paper Smooches Educational Blog and Kalyn showed us how to watercolor and die cut from that water colored background. It was an aha moment for me! The way she demonstrated it was so easy and for the first time ever, I love how my water colored paper turned out.
I used Simon Says Butterfly Drift Craft Die for the first time (NBUS) and cut out the butterflies from my very pretty water colored background paper. I then cut out the same butterflies in black and popped the water colored butterflies into the black outline to make them pop and added a pearl to each one for a bit of dimension. I splattered yellow and orange water color on the Gina K Pure Luxury White card stock and stamped Happy from PTI's Wet Paint in SU's Tangerine Tango ink and Birthday, also from PTI's Wet Paint set in Tuxedo Black ink and mounted the card on a piece of SU's Tangerine Tango card stock. My mom thought this card was awesome!
The second card is obviously a guy card for my brother-in-law. Unfortunately he couldn't celebrate with us on Sunday, but my sister, Carla, delivered the card to him.
Almost everything on this card is from Stampin' Up. The stamp sets are Moon Lake and Itty Bitty Banners. The die cuts are Bitty Banners from SU and Simon Says' Shapes with stitches.
I inked up the image on a piece of watercolor paper with Tuxedo Black ink. I used watercolor pencils to color the image. I used SU's Mossy Meadow Card stock and ink for the happy birthday sentiment and also Gina K's Pure Luxury Ivory card stock. I popped up the sentiment and put twine behind it, to finish off the card.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I love it when you do.
Love, love, love your mom's birthday card, and I'm sure she did too! Can't wait to try out the water color technique after seeing your card! Your brother in laws card looks great too...I love that stamp set for a masculine card!! :0)
